The desire of the Worship Ministry at First Southern is to provide an atmosphere in which we can most effectively encounter Christ Jesus. We want an encounter with Christ that will result in a transformation of our lives. The Worship Ministry areas include Band, Orchestra, Choir, Praise Teams, The KREW (Kids Ready & Equipped for Worship), Student Worship Arts Team (S.W.A.T.), Audio/Visual and more.
We would love to have you come and serve along side us as we lead in worship. Our goal is to be instruments for the Lord to use that will draw glory to His name.
Band
Rehearsal is Wednesday evenings 7:00 – 8:00 pm in the Conference Center.
Anyone joining the band will need a good understanding of your instrument and a good knowledge of chords and rhythms.
Orchestra
Rehearsal for the orchestra is Wednesday evenings 7:00-8:00 pm in the Conference Center.
Anyone joining the orchestra will need at least a High School level of experience on your instrument (even if it’s been awhile).
Choir
Rehearsal for the Encounter Choir is Wednesday evenings 6:15 – 7:15 pm in the Conference Center. The Encounter Choir is a great entry point into the Worship area of service. We work to be prepared as a choir but we emphasize the desire for worship more than an overall level of music talent. It’s many voices joining as one voice in worship.
Praise Team
Rehearsal for Praise Team is Wednesday evenings 7:30 pm in room 129 of the Hope Building. Praise Team members are by audition only.
S.W.A.T. (Student Worship Arts Team)
Rehearsal for S.W.A.T. is Wednesday at 5:00pn in room 129 in the Hope Building. S.W.A.T. is made up of Junior and Senior High School students who want to be involved in worship. We use many elements of worship arts including music, drama, instruments, choreography and more.
The K.R.E.W. (Kids Ready & Equipped for Worship)
Kids meet during Pressing Forward on Sundays from 5:00-6:15pm. Preschool age kids meet downstairs in the Paradise Preschool and Kinder-6th grade kids meet upstairs in the Hope Building.
