CONNECTING KIDS TO GOD AND TEACHING THEM HOW TO LIVE FOR HIM

Beginning as babies, kids are exposed to the truth of God’s Word and as they grow, they are guided to know and use the “whole armor of God.”  It is our goal to create a nurturing and safe environment where children can learn to love God and love others.

KIDS CAMP | 3rd-6th Grade

Register Your Child

Kids who complete 3rd through 6th grade may attend CrossTimbers Kids Mission Adventure Camp with us during the summer. CrossTimbers is located in Davis, Oklahoma only a few miles from the main Falls Creek Conference Center. CrossTimbers exists to reach lost children and to raise up a generation of kids with an authentic walk with God who actively serve others with missional living. Throughout each session of camp, there is a high priority on scripture, worship, relationships with camp staff and church sponsors, and opportunities for kids and sponsors to sharpen their skills and prepare to consistently serve God after camp. The registration link above contains more details about this year’s camp including cost and dates.

BLAST | K-6th Grade

Register for Blast

Kids Blast is a free, 3-day, summer activity camp for kids who complete Kindergarten through 6th grade by that summer. Each day begins at 9am and ends at 12:15pm. It brings opportunities for kids to experience fun and games while learning firsthand about who God is. Kids are provided a list of activities to choose from that they will participate in each of the three days of Blast. These activities might include archery, fishing, art, drama, science, pinewood derby racing, outdoor games, and more.

AWANA | 2 yrs-6th Grade

Register for Awana

Awana stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed and is based on 2 Timothy 2:15. The program focuses on Scripture memory as the tool to draw kids to God. Each night consists of Small Group time for the kids to share what they learned during the week, a large group Bible study time, and a large group game time. We use the Awana curriculum on Wednesday evenings from 6-7:30 during the school year and it is designed for kids beginning at age 2 in Puggles, 3s and 4s in Cubbies, Kindergarten through 2nd grade in Sparks, and 3rd through 6th grade in T&T.

SUMMER WEDNESDAYS | Babies-6th Grade

We have Bible classes for kids year-round on Wednesday nights. During the Summer months (June through August), kids remain in their age-group classes but the format is a little different. Teaching the kids from God’s Word is always the foundation. Summer curriculum varies but centers on a Bible story and all of the activities are focused on that story. This is a great time for kids to build relationships with other kids while learning about God.

Babies-4yrs (Pre-K)

Babies & Toddler class placement is based on development of each child. Beginning in August after the child turns 2, kids attend classes based on their birthdate which corresponds to the local school system. (September 1st)  Example: a child who turns 3 in May will promote to Preschool 3 during class promotion in August. Class promotion is in August of each year. Children enrolled in Preschool 2 through Preschool 4 classes will promote only in August.

AWANA | Babies-Pre-K

Puggles (Age 2) and Cubbies (Ages 3 & 4) are designed specifically for their ages and they have activities, crafts, music, games, and time to learn their weekly verse.

SUMMER WEDNESDAYS | Babies-Pre-K

CHILD DEDICATION WEEKEND

Register for Child Dedication

We believe that God has entrusted children to their parents to train up in the way that they should go so that when they are older, they will not depart from it. We have created a time to commemorate and have a public display of this commitment that each parent makes. On Sunday July 28, 2024, during the morning service we have a public commitment time for our church family to pray over and commit to helping these families in their journey. Then, there is a lunch for the families after. This is a personal time with the families to understand the importance of their role as parents and leading their children as God has instructed.

For Parents/Safety and Security Policies

We understand the importance of the task we are given to protect kids while sharing God’s Word with them. It is the policy of First Southern to take multiple steps to keep all kids under age 18 safe. Our safety measures include screening of all adults who serve with this age group. A few of our steps in screening involve nationwide background checks, MinistrySafe sexual abuse awareness training, yearly overview of our policies and procedures and constant monitoring of classrooms. We follow a 2-teacher per classroom rule. If you would like more information about our policies and procedures including pick-up and drop-off, emergency procedures, and cleaning, you may request a copy of our Parent Handbook that is provided to all parents who have kids attending our Kids Ministry.
